CULTIVATING COEXISTENCE

Project Type Architecture Fair

Location Ljubljana, Slovenia

Year 2019

Client Future Architecture Platform & MAO – Museum of Architecture and Design

The architecture fair, set at @mao_slovenia, provided cultural operators and emerging creatives in architecture an opportunity to present their work to the Future Architecture audience, meet partners and examine opportunities, while the audiences had the chance to explore the latest in the field of architecture and urban planning.

Ringscape took the chance to broaden the horizons of its research on the herbs-tradition-history started in 2018 as part of the Green Pavilion project. The herbs-tradition-history travels along routes of migration flows and territorial expansions. All the spice plants show through their possible usages how one culture is always the result of different cultures successfully criss-crossed and melted together. The installation, created specifically for Future Architecture Platform, is a metaphor of a small-scale green planet, a site to recognise our dependency on other species, and the capability of composing life out of movements and differences, in a shared responsibility.

The three-day-insightful gathering at the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana represented for us a further acknowledgment of the positive consequences of multiculturalism. It has been a pleasure to see so much pluralism in the gathering, with architects, architectural offices, curators and institutions coming from all over Europe.
As far as we are concerned, we are glad to be among the ones promoting the interaction of cultures as a source of enrichment and innovation in culture and society, whether by taking part in a pan-European architectural gathering or by illustrating the plants’ history of commixture and hybridisation.
